Elon Maskという人は狂人である。狂人であるがゆえに巨大な企業を次から次へと立ち上げる。しかし偉人ではなく狂人である。

最近彼がTeslaの従業員にあてて送ったメールが公開されている。最初に「１週間にModel3を2000台生産する目標を達成した」ことに対してお祝いを述べ、次に６月末までにこの生産台数を6000台/週にすることを命じている。

Any Tesla department or supplier that is unable to do this will need to have a very good explanation why not, along with a plan for fixing the problem and present that to me directly.

訳：もし自分が何の価値も生み出していないことがわかったら、ただちに会議室を出る、あるいは電話を切ること。去ることは無礼ではない。人を無意味に引き止め時間を無駄にすることが無礼だ。

こうやって訳しているだけで胃が痛くなってくる。このメールを受け取ったTeslaのマネージャーはどんな心持ちだろう。下手なプレゼンをMaskにやってしまいその場で首になる人間が何人でるのか。しかしそれでも働く人は後を絶たないのだろう。

このダイナミズムには恐怖を感じる。昔トヨタがTeslaと提携していたころ「Teslaの車なんて」とトヨタ様がおっしゃっていたと間接的に聞いた。Toyotaは別の意味で狂っている、というかバカだ。この狂気どうしの戦いはこの後どうなるのだろう。
