iPadにマルチタスクが導入されるかもしれないのだそうな。

Appleのソフトウェアの動向の予測にかけては数々の実績がある9to5MacのMark Gurmanが、AppleはiOS 8で画面分割とマルチタスクを開発中だと報じた。この画面分割機能は最近のSamsungタブレットやMicrosoft Surfaceのものに似ているという。

信頼と実績のMark Gurmanの報道だから多分正しいのだろうし、どれほど有効なのかは興味深い問題としてiOS8にそうした機能が搭載されるのは理にかなっている。

私の感想はこのサイトの意見と全く同一だ。

Sounds cool. I’m very curious to see how you get into (and back out of) this mode, though. It’s easy to say you want to see two apps side-by-side on the iPad. It’s not easy at all to implement such a feature without losing the wonderful can’t get lost/can’t get confused about where you are or how you got there simplicity of the iPad today.

「マルチタスクだからいい」とか世の中そんな簡単な話ではない。それが「できない」ことによって得られているメリットは大きいのだ。さて、ここらへんをAppleはどうやってデザインしてくるのだろうか。Apple原理主義者としては、Windows8でMicrosoftがやったような真似だけはしないでほしい、と願っている。
